| NOTES FOR USERS: The playlist links above connect to an instantly-generated file that opens in Windows Media Player, Winamp, RealPlayer, Kantaris, and most web browsers. The script that generates the playlist is called "m3u.php" and will not harm your computer or create any cookies or registry entries. If you are prompted to "run" or "save", choose run. If asked to select a program, select your usual media player. We created this simple automatic playlist generator specifically to play on any machine and all media players. If you are using a web-based media player (Project Playlist, etc) it won't work. |

The music files on this
site are encoded to play on your computer in "FM Radio" quality. They are
not of high enough quality for file-sharing purposes. If you want
high quality recordings, they are available from most of the artists
websites and CD retail sites. If you find a file that won't play, please let
us know.
About the songs: We
care very much for the music industry as a whole, and especially the
great artists you'll hear on our site. We do not support or encourage
cheating these fellow-Texans out of their material. That is why we use
lower quality mp3 files than those used in file-sharing environments.
Our artists sometimes complain that the quality of the recordings is
not as high as it could be. That would be correct. We do this to
protect the artists from theft.
About Texas Top 40: Since
starting in 2001, Texas
Top 40 has become a proving ground for all of the styles present in the
Lone Star State - from the bluesy icehouse sound to urban rap/rock -
Texas Top 40 is the yardstick of what sounds are popular in Texas
music. We do not and can not apologize for the tastes of our listeners.
We merely report the statistics and let chips fall where they may. Thanks
for taking an interest in Texas music.
PS:
we don't make a dime off the booking numbers or anything else connected
with this site, which is non-profit. We don't sell CDs or band gear
either. There are no ads on the site, and none on our webcasts - except
an occasional public service announcement. For CDs and high
quality versions of the tunes on Texas Top 40, I recommend contacting
the individual artists by visiting their websites.
